FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine Animal Biotechnology Stakeholder Outreach Session

At this session, the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) will collect feedback from stakeholders on its regulatory process for intentional genomic alterations (IGAs) in animals. The feedback will help CVM to enhance the predictability, transparency, and efficiency of the IGA review process under the Veterinary Innovation Program (VIP). The VIP is available to most IGA developers and is aimed at facilitating advancements in the development of innovative animal products by providing greater certainty in the regulatory process, encouraging development and research, and supporting an efficient and predictable pathway to approval.

At the session, CVM will elaborate on our science- and risk-based approach for IGAs and will provide a brief overview of our risk analysis and review process. The session will conclude with breakout group listening/feedback sessions where stakeholders are encouraged to provide their input.

Please note that this session is separate from the conference. It is open to the public and there is no cost to attend.

Deadline to register: Sunday, July 25th

Every so often a book comes along that changes the way you view the world. The War on Science: Who’s Waging It, Why It Matters, What We Can Do About It by Shawn Otto is one of those rare books. If you care about attacks on climate science and the rise of authoritarianism, if you care about biased media coverage or shake-your-head political tomfoolery, this book is for you.
